PedaleadaSV toured the Historic Center of San Salvador in a day of sports, mobility and coexistence

About 10,000 people participated in the ninth edition of the PedaleadaSV, which had the Plaza Gerardo Barrios as a meeting point and turned the streets of San Salvador into a route to enjoy by bicycle, skates, scooter, skateboard or running. The activity took place on Sunday, September 20 and was organized by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT), together with the Vice Ministry of Transport (VMT) and FOVIAL.

The Historic Center was the meeting point of the ninth PedaleadaSV

From the early hours of the morning, the Gerardo Barrios Square, in the Historic Center of San Salvador, received families, groups of friends, cyclists and sports fans who joined a new edition of the PedaleadaSV.

The activity began with a call from 6:00 a.m. and the departure of the route at 7:00 a.m., offering two alternatives of 5 and 10 kilometers so that participants could choose the distance according to their preferences.

More than a competition, the day was conceived as a recreational experience open to the public, promoting alternative mobility, physical activity and new ways of touring the capital.

A route to rediscover San Salvador

The PedaleadaSV connected the heart of the Historic Center of San Salvador with other representative points of the city.

The tour began in the vicinity of Plaza Gerardo Barrios and Rubén Darío Street. The 5-kilometer route advanced to the Plaza Divino Salvador del Mundo sector before returning, while the 10-kilometer circuit continued to Constitución Boulevard and the Los Sisimiles Street sector.

The tour allowed attendees to tour the city from a different perspective and approach spaces such as the Historic Center, Cuscatlán Park, Roosevelt Alameda and the Salvador del Mundo while enjoying a morning dedicated to sports and coexistence.

Bicycles, roller skates, scooters and joggers took to the streets

One of the main elements of the PedaleadaSV was its inclusive nature. It was not necessary to participate only by bicycle: attendees were also able to complete the route on skates, scooters, skateboards or running, allowing people with different preferences to join the experience.

The organization also enabled bicycle loans, mobile repair workshops and free transportation from different parts of the country to facilitate participation in the activity.

About 10,000 people gathered in the heart of the capital

The ninth PedaleadaSV brought together about 10,000 Salvadorans and visitors, turning the Historic Center into a meeting point for sports, recreation and family coexistence.

The day also had the special participation of former Brazilian soccer player Dani Alves, who shared with the attendees during the event. Alves developed part of his career in clubs such as FC Barcelona and participated in the activity with the attendees gathered in the Historic Center.

Live art in Plaza Gerardo Barrios

The experience also incorporated an artistic component with the participation of the Spanish visual artist Mr. Drip , who turned the Gerardo Barrios Square into a space for live creation.

During the day, the artist developed a work in front of the public inspired by the experience of walking the streets of El Salvador, integrating art into an activity that already combined sports, mobility and public space.

In this way, the PedaleadaSV allowed the Plaza Gerardo Barrios to transcend its function as a starting point and become a space for meeting, recreation and artistic expression.
