A small urban square in the heart of the historic center of San Salvador, known for its restored colonial church façade and the monument to the hero José Matías Delgado.

From a colonial chapel to a reborn square
A square with roots dating back to the 16th century, linked to seismic events, destruction and resurgence. Its recovery in 2011 restored dignity to the historic center, preserving its cultural identity.

Original statue of José Matías Delgado donated in 1911 by European colonies, demolished in 1986.
Fire in 1975 destroyed the building, marking the end of the church as a religious center.
Urban recovery in 2011 that revitalized its social and patrimonial function
