National Theater

Inaugurated in 1917, the National Theater is one of the main cultural centers of El Salvador and an architectural jewel of the Historic Center of San Salvador.

National Theater: Living Scenario of Salvadoran Art and History

Its construction began in 1911 under the design of French architect Daniel Beylard, and it quickly became the most prestigious center for the performing arts in the country. It was conceived in an eclectic style, fusing elements of French Renaissance, Rococo and Art Nouveau, visible in its large muraled dome and interior decoration.

Events

In addition to hosting national and international artistic presentations, the Theater has hosted key historical events, such as tributes to Salvadoran cultural figures, solemn State functions and artistic resistance presentations during periods of social crisis, consolidating it as a symbol of cultural freedom in El Salvador.
