1913: President Manuel Enrique Araujo was assassinated while sitting on a bench in the plaza.

1992: The site witnessed popular celebrations following the signing of the Peace Accords.

2020-2025: Remained closed for remodeling. Reconstruction began in 2023, with an investment of about USD 2-2.4 million.
